Who runs this site
apogee.avaui.dev is run by Alex Sofronea, who decides what the site collects and why (the data controller under the GDPR).
What the site collects
The site uses PostHog to see how people use the docs, so they can get better. On every visit it records the pages you open, the page you came from, your browser, device type and screen size, what you click, how fast pages load, and any script errors the page hits.
PostHog works out your approximate location (country, region and city) from your IP address, then throws the IP address away. It's never stored.
- Before you choose, or if you decline: PostHog keeps its identifier in the page's memory only. Nothing is stored on your device, and each page you open counts as a separate, anonymous visit.
- If you accept: PostHog keeps an identifier in a cookie and in local storage (both named
ph_…) for up to a year, so your visits count as one visitor. It also records your session (scrolling, mouse movement and clicks, with every form field masked) so we can see where the docs confuse people.
The Apogee command-line tool sends its own anonymous usage data, described on the telemetry page.
Newsletter
If you subscribe in the footer, your email address goes to MailerLite, an email service based in Lithuania, which sends the newsletter for us. It relies on your consent. The address stays on the list until you unsubscribe, with the link in any email or by writing to us; MailerLite then stops using it.
Where it goes
PostHog stores the data in its EU cloud, in Frankfurt, and processes it for us under its data processing agreement. Cloudflare hosts the site and handles your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks. Apart from MailerLite for newsletter subscribers, nobody else gets the data. It's never sold or used for ads.
How long it's kept
Visit data is kept for up to a year. Session recordings are deleted after 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data held about you, object to its use, or withdraw your consent. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Romania that's the ANSPDCP.
To ask, email alex@sof.ro. If you accepted cookies, include the analytics ID below so your data can be found. You'll get a reply within a month.
